SOLIDWORKS is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program. It's a great software that can be used for a variety of purposes in different industries.

All Students (first year through graduate), Faculty, and Staff can install SolidWorks on their personal device/s for course-related, team projects, Capstone, and Academic research use only. See license terms and definitions below.

Definitions of License Terms and Usage:
  • Educational Purpose” means classroom or laboratory learning by Qualified Students or instruction or preparation of courses by Qualified Instructors. Educational Purposes may also include Capstone or other student projects if the work is non-proprietary, does not create or transfer Intellectual Property and the results will become part of the public domain. Educational Purposes do not include Research Purposes, Commercial Purposes, or Curriculum Development.
  • Research Purpose” means any work where SolidWorks directly contributes to the problem statement, modeling, analysis, outcome, or deliverables of a Research Project. Research Purposes do not include Commercial Purposes or
    Curriculum Development.
  • Commercial Purpose” means professional consulting, hardware production for resale, job shop activities, services performed under a Technical Services Agreement, corporate or government internships, private tutoring, or training of anyone other than Qualified Students.

For research license access, the 2023 charge is $320.00 per static IP address for the SOLIDWORKS research network license manager. It can't be prorated.

SolidWorks HVAC, Electrical, Electrical Cooling, Composer, and Plastic Premium research network licenses are no longer supported on our servers.

2024 Research network license server access charge will be $400.00 per static IP address as the cost of UCSD renewal will increase.

MySolidWorks

MySolidWorks is a web portal that helps you be more productive by connecting you with relevant SOLIDWORKS® content and services—anytime, anywhere, and on any device. With MySolidWorks, you can get answers about SOLIDWORKS, learn more, and connect with manufacturers.

All UCSD users can access MySolidWorks. You must use SOLIDWORKS EDU Premium serial number.

Online Training Catalog (powered by SOLIDProfessor) tutorials, with learning paths including CSWA Exam Prep Course and Sample Exercises, CSWP Exam Prep Course and Sample Exercises, SOLIDWORKS CAM are all available on MySolidWorks.
