Microsoft Enterprise CAL provides the Forefront Protection Suite including Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010, Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server, Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint, and Forefront Security for Office Communications (Lync) Server. This is available most often as a subscription option in the UC Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA). Forefront Protection is also available as needed for non MCCA subscribers via the Microsoft Select subscriptions opportunity.
The Next Generation Network (NGN) project is providing multiple anti-virus options. The future anti-virus option will be Trend Micro Enterprise Security for Endpoints (ESE) Advanced for campus windows and macos X computers as described by ACT Network Security.
The NGN is currently also providing a phase out year Sophos anti-virus at no charge to the UCSD community for Windows, Mac, Unix/Linux, Exchange, Windows Server, and Novell Server. See the above for what to use after 11/28/2012.
