Virtual Labs: Mac OS X 10.6+

Use popular University-licensed software remotely on your personal Macintosh computer from anywhere with a broadband Internet connection!


1. Install the VMware Horizon View Client.

Download the VMware Horizon View Client for Mac OS X and open the file.

Once the .dmg file has been opened, read and agree to the End User License Agreement and drag the icon to the Applications folder to install.

2. Add the Virtual Computing server.

Open the VMware View client and click on "Add Server"

Set the Hostname field to virtuallab.ucsd.edu. You will only need to do this once.

3. Download the VPN client.

Under "Conventional Installation", download and install the VPN client for your operating system. Be sure to set the group to allthruucsd to route all network traffic through the campus VPN. 

Note

Remember that you are responsible for all network activity on the UCSD network. Even though you may be off-campus, you must abide by our Acceptable Use Policy when you are using the Virtual Private Network.

4. Log in and access your Virtual Lab!

Enter your username and password in the next window and leave the Domain to AD. This is the same username and password you use to log into ACS-Webmail and Ted
