The Media Teaching Lab editing rooms and studios are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ID card swipe is required for access to the Communications front door between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am on weeknights and all weekend.
You must be a UC San Diego undergraduate student enrolled in an approved regularly scheduled media production class. The Media Lab is an undergraduate facility. The instructional needs of the undergraduates are always given top priority. Graduate students are welcome and will be supported on a case-by-case basis. All students must visit the Media Teaching Lab office at Communications 225 to be entered into the system. This process may take up to 24 hours. Access to rooms may be determined by course enrollment. No exceptions to these policies will be made.

Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are made online through the Media Teaching Lab's website. Undergraduates may reserve rooms up to one week in advance for one 24-hour period. Eligible graduate students only can reserve four days in advance. Editing room reservations are limited to 4 hours a day and 16 hours a week per student. The 12:00 am – 7:00 am period counts as one 4-hour shift. Production Studio Keys must be checked out from, and returned to, the Equipment Checkout Room in Communications 112. Checkout room hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Users are responsible for any loss, damage due to negligence, or theft of equipment that may occur while using the rooms. Please make sure the door is shut when you leave. Do not turn an editing room over to anyone without making them use their ID card to access the space. Do not leave any supplies, equipment, or personal belongings unattended. The Media Teaching Lab is not responsibile for lost or stolen items.
